About Phi Kappa Sigma

In 1968 the brothers of a small local fraternity, Sigma Tau Sigma, made the decision to join the ranks of a larger more influential national fraternity. Though those men had many choices, they chose to join Phi Kappa Sigma and became the first Skulls at NIU. Since then the Skulls of NIU have thrived on campus making us one of the oldest fraternities here at NIU. As a result of this we are proud to boast that just over 1,300 men have graduated from the ranks of NIU's chapter of Phi Kappa Sigma, and we are proud to call these men our alumni. We feel obligated to carry on this fine tradition of excellence set forth by our Alums, and always uphold our value of "Brothers for now, Brothers for life". We like to think that our chapter here at NIU reflects the general student body here on campus. Our parents are not fortune 500 owners, nor lawyers, or doctors, nor lottery winners. Instead our parents are policemen, firefighters, nurses, union workers, and small business owners. We come from humble roots and as an effect of this, we take pride in the fact that our chapter continues to succeed at the cheapest cost to its members on campus! By far our dues are cheaper than any other fraternity at NIU and we are the only fraternity with a maximum cap on dues written in our bylaws. We also stake claim to largest philanthropy event at NIU, Greek Physique. For over 20 years the Skulls have hosted this amatuer body building competition that on average attracts 500 to 600 spectators each year! The proceeds for this event are donated to the Luekemia Lymphoma Society for continued research and treatment of this type of cancer. For more information please feel free to stop by the house anytime or get in contact with one of the brothers through the tabs above.
